The State of Hawaii’s W-2 Guide
This feature is available when you’re accessing HIP using a computer connected to the State’s secure computer network.
Paper copies of W-2s are distributed to employees by the last workday of January each year, and electronic copies are stored in HIP from calendar year 2018 onward.
When the State of Hawaii must report corrected earnings for employees to the IRS and/or State Department of Taxation, a W-2c (i.e., corrected W-2) is generated and available in HIP.
If an employee leaves State service by the time that W2s are distributed, the employing department will mail the W2 to their home address in HIP.
Your name as it’s displayed on your W-2 is according to IRS guidelines, and your address is displayed according to your payroll address in HIP. See more information about names and addresses here.
Electronic copies of W-2s are available in HIP for calendar year 2018 onward. To obtain a copy of an older W-2, employees must request a copy from their payroll/fiscal office. Payment may be required to re-produce an older W-2 for you.
