The HawaiiPay project team is fortunate to connect with so many great employees of the State of Hawaii — some we already know from monthly meetings or in passing, and some we have not had the pleasure to meet yet. On one of our most recent site visits, we were introduced to this energetic group of employees at the legislative branch, which includes the Senate, House of Representatives, Ethics Office, Office of the Auditor, Ombudsman Office, and the Legislative Reference Bureau. Currently there is one legislative staff person who onboards all new employees and maintains their employee data without a formal Human Resource Management System (HRMS) of their own. Most of the staff wear both HR and payroll hats and work closely together to manually process payroll each cycle. Despite these challenges, this team of super heroes faithfully serves more than 400 employees in the legislative branch.

You can imagine their excitement upon hearing they would be a part of the HawaiiPay project and be able to process their payroll in the new PeopleSoft system. The new system will bring exciting changes and relief for the team, and they have expressed great enthusiasm about participating in the project activities and preparing for the transition to more automated processes.
