Candidate Filing System Back Up

July 28, 2014

State of Hawaii – Campaign Spending Commission

Staff of the Campaign Spending Commission discovered this past weekend that the Candidate Filing System (“CFS”) was down. The CFS was back up today (July 28, 2014) at 10:30 am. The downtime was due to circumstances not within the control of the Commission. The Commission sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience and would like to thank you for your patience and understanding during the downtime.

The Commission reminds all candidate committees that the 2nd PRELIMINARY PRIMARY REPORT for candidates running in the 2014 election and on the Primary election ballot is still due no later than 11:59 p.m. Hawaiian standard time on Wednesday, July 30, 2014.

The fine for not filing the 2nd PRELIMINARY PRIMARY REPORT by the due date, if assessed, shall not exceed $300 per day; provided that in aggregate, the fine shall not exceed twenty-five per cent of the total amount of contributions or expenditures, whichever is greater, for the period covered by the report; and the minimum fine, if assessed, shall be $300 (see HRS 11-340(c)).

The Commission would also like to remind all candidate committees that the SUPPLEMENTAL REPORT for candidates not running in the 2014 election but still registered with the Commission is still due no later than 11:59 p.m. Hawaiian standard time on Thursday, July 31, 2014.

The fine for not filing the SUPPLEMENTAL REPORT by the due date, if assessed, shall not exceed $50 per day for the first seven days, beginning with the day after the due date of the report, and shall not exceed $200 per day thereafter; provided that in aggregate, the fine shall not exceed twenty-five per cent of the total amount of contributions or expenditures, whichever is greater, for the period covered by the report; and the minimum fine for a report filed more than four days after the due date, if assessed, shall be $200 (see HRS 11-340(b)).

Thank you,
The Campaign Spending Commission
