What is an ERP?

In order to accomplish a massive transformation effort such as the Enterprise Financial System (EFS) Project, the State of Hawaii’s core business functions will move to an “enterprise resource planning” (ERP) system. ERP systems help public sector organizations manage and integrate core business operations like accounting, finance, human resources, payroll, and procurement. Essentially, an ERP system standardizes and unifies critical processes, providing a centralized view of data and operations, acting as a single source of truth for the organization.

By implementing an ERP solution and transforming key business operations, the EFS Project will enhance overall governmental efficiency, equip decision-makers with the resources to make data-driven decisions, and enable public servants to deliver essential services more effectively to the local community.
