More than 20 members from various administrative services offices across the State of Hawaii were invited to attend the Three Crucial Activities for Getting Ready for Leading Change workshop at the Hawaiʻi Leadership Forum on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. Hosted by Transform Hawaii Government (THG) and Gartner Research, this private workshop was designed for administrative services officers (ASOs) and other mid-level supervisory staff to help them lead their departments through potential changes resulting from the EFS Project.

The workshop featured a presentation by keynote speaker Shawn Murphy, Senior Director Analyst at Gartner Research, whose experience in organizational change management provided valuable guidance and practical solutions for ASOs to consider as they prepare for upcoming changes affecting their departments. Throughout the workshop, attendees were invited to participate in interactive activities aimed at achieving the following objectives:

  • Improve ability to effectively communicate upcoming changes
  • Learn fundamentals for creating new and innovative procedures in preparation for upcoming changes
  • Build confidence in leading others through change and uncertainty

From these activities, participants learned how to utilize their departments’ “lull periods” to better prepare their teams for success.
