EFS Change Leaders Sharpen Skills at Storytelling for Change Workshop
Posted on Jun 18, 2024 in Recent NewsAbout 50 State employees and EFS Change Leaders from various departments attended the Storytelling for Change Workshop at the Kalanimoku Building on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. Hosted by Transform Hawaii Government (THG) and Gartner Research, the workshop focused on the fundamentals of storytelling and how to use this method of communication to drive positive change within an organization.
The workshop featured a presentation by keynote speaker Kevin Smith, Senior Director Analyst with the Gartner CIO Leadership practice, whose extensive experience in organizational effectiveness and culture, change management, and integrated communications has aided leaders and organizations in achieving successful organizational transformation across various industries. Throughout the workshop, attendees were invited to participate in interactive activities aimed at achieving the following objectives:
- Understand and apply the architectures for business and human value stories
- Develop the core skills for storytelling and presenting
- Practice communicating stories in small groups and providing feedback
From these activities, participants learned that effective storytelling involves combining factual information with emotional and human elements to inspire change.
