2023 Archives Month: Reawakening the Voices of the Past2023 E Hoʻāla ʻia ana nā Leo Kūpuna

The power of the human voice has captivated audiences for as long as language has existed. While printed words have power, the delivery of those words can provide a far more persuasive argument than the words themselves – spoken word can elicit deep emotional connections and reactions far beyond what print can produce. Your Public Archives has spent the past year digitizing obsolete media formats in order to empower our ancestors with the ability to share their wisdom – in their own words, through their own voice. Throughout the month of October, the Public Archives will be releasing high quality digital recordings created from Edison Cylinders, Instantaneous Cut Records, Wire Records, Aluminum 78rpm Phonographic records, VHS tapes, and more.

Join us weekly throughout the month of October for new themed content as we celebrate Reawakening the Voices of the Past.

Every week this month we will be releasing newly digitized recordings under a sub-theme with Photo-of-the-Day on our social medias to support it. So please check our Facebook and Instagram for details and content. For more information and links to the recordings check out the main Archives Month 2023: Reawakening the Voices of the Past webpage.
