- Repairing some exterior walls
- Improving lighting, electrical outlets, air conditioning, plumbing
- Adding 12 new parking stalls (there are 10 existing stalls)
- Adding new driveway and parking deck
- Replacing exterior wheelchair lift
“The Kāneʻohe Civic Center is a small but important facility for Windward residents because it houses the offices for important social services,” says DAGS Director and Comptroller Keith Regan.
“We are eager to refurbish the property and reopen it to the constituents who need it,” adds DAGS PWD Administrator Gordon Wood.
“On January 23, 2023, Med-Quest vacated the Kāneʻohe Civic Center to allow construction to move forward. Following renovations, the center continues to house key social service offices for the State Department of Human Services (DHS), including Med-Quest and First-to-Work. We appreciate our partnership with DAGS as we continue working together to support the Koʻolaupoko/ Koʻolauloa community,” says DHS Director Ryan Yamane.
The renovation is also making space for DHS to welcome one or more community-based service provider(s) whose mission aligns with DHS’ service goals.
DAGS is executing the $4.265 million project, which is projected for completion by January 2027. When it is finished, DAGS Central Services Division will continue to manage the building.
