Mission and Philosophy
The Audit Division’s mission is to promote financial accountability and meaningful feedback to department managers regarding their financial stewardship over public funds through independent, objective, accurate, and timely audits of State government activities.
The Audit Division is responsible to make investigations and audits from time to time to enforce the use of the accounting system and internal control systems in the State’s executive departments and agencies.
The staff of the Audit Division understands their role in the investigations and audits of State government activities. The staff conducts their investigations and audits in an unbiased manner free from outside influences, in acordance with generally accepted auditing standards, and maintains a high standard of ethics. The staff’s conclusions, audit findings, and recommendations are based upon written documented evidence and confirmed personal observations.
