Hawaiʻi COVID-19 Community Archives

The Public Archives of Hawaiʻi needs your help!

We are asking for your donations of digital photos, videos, stories and other memorabilia that document the impact of this pandemic on our daily lives and ways that we are reaching out to our friends, neighbors and ʻohana to help them in these trying times. Photos and videos submissions should include sufficient details to help future researchers understand the context (when and where taken, what is in the photo and why is it significant). For artifact donations, please email us at [email protected].

PLEASE SHARE YOUR STORIES with us! As a Community Archives, we want to make sure that it is broad in its holdings and touches on the humanity of this crisis. Tell us how this pandemic has impacted your life: Who are your heroes? What are your heartaches? What are some of the ways neighbors and ʻohana reached out to make life better? Stories can be entered in the text box below or submitted as a ‘Selfie Video’. If a video, please be sure to tell us who you are and where you are from.

Submission can be made here:

NOTE: all photographs donated for consideration of inclusion into the Public Archives will be transferred to the State Archives for preservation and use by researchers for generations to come. Donation constitutes your willingness and consent for these photos to be placed into the Public Domain for unrestricted use. So please be sure to include location, date, and name of the photographer for proper credit and citation. Photos without this information will not be considered.

*All submitted content will be reviewed by a cross-disciplinary committee that will assess the content for appropriateness to theme, quality of execution, and future historical value.
